V22 OSPREY : codename V22 Devastator This is the second project of my demo reel and much like the first one, I tried to get a model done that would be different and be able to show how I can properly texture an object. I wanted with this project to give an effect much like this plane juse flew along time and had it's share of battles. I went with the scratch and paint chip feel with oil dripping down it's panel lines. Like the Truck, I started by blocking out where each part of the plane is and when that is completed, I begin to add more detail. The engine was the hardest part for me as it is an unique shape. It is cubic in the rear but then splits into two shapes where one is the turbine and one is the propeller. Once that was finished along with the rest of the model. It is time to unfold it and start texturing. Using multiple army reference shots, I put panel lines in and then paint the scratches in. To achieve this, I used detailed shading networks including dense layered shaders focusing on transperencies and specular highlights. In my demo reel, I thought it would be really neat to show how cool this plane/helicopter really is. I animated it from its folded up wing position to its ready to fly position, also having the engine go from vertical to a horizontal position. Here are some of the final renders.
