Big Rig

This is the first project of my DEMO REEL.

iI wanted to choose a vehicle that would be different from what other 3D modelers choose so I decided to show a Truck that would take alot careful consideration to detail.

I took many pictures of real trucks especially underneath so I could properly show off the frame and rear suspension. I also textured the truck to be new, but went through a bunch of muddy puddles and got all dirty.

I began by blocking out all the parts of the truck. This including just using cubes and donuts to get everything into place. Once I was happy with the placement, I then began using my reference to start to put more detail into each piece of the truck. After completing these steps, it was time to start unfolding all the objects and begin the texturing process. This included making my own brushes in Photoshop as I wanted to make everything myself using only the references I took either from my own pictures and from the internet

. I concentrated heavily and getting the chrome right, adjusting specular highlights and bumps where necessary. The truck is rendered using HDRI images in Mental Ray using Final Gather, Image based lighting, and Ray Trace shadows.

Here are some pictures of the final render. I made the road so that it wasn't floating in dead space.
